That Day, I Fell In Love – A poem by Victor Akhere

I fell in love

THAT DAY, I FELL IN LOVE

I fell in love on that day.

A delightful day in the waiting room,

This winsome lass led me

Into a world of wishful thinking, where

Beggars have begun to buy rides.

What a sweet smile she wore!

The cadence of her voice caressed my ears,

The same way a west wind

Glides over the green grasses in an open field.

I felt her pain of a prickly needle,

And the sprouting seed of love in my soul.
