Charade – A poem by Alexander Onoja
Happiness has a face,
Marked by sugar, spice, and everything nice.
Behind every troubled heart is a bitter sadness,
Hidden by smiles and distant lies.
We distract our depression with trends,
Dying inside but smiling when with friends.
The mirror no longer tells our stories,
As it too is deceived by our happy faces.
Our laughter may be contagious, with a sweet melodious tone,
But just like makeup it fades when we’re all alone.
